PSX: Nylo-Drive is an updated addition to the PSX: Direct Drive series.

The manhole connector retains the same sealing power mechanism as PSX: Direct Drive while adding a new, state of the art power sleeve. This new addition to our pipe-to-manhole connector line meets or exceeds the same ASTM standards. The connector is suitable for use in manholes in sanitary sewers and storm sewers, lift stations, pump stations, onsite waste water systems and for coring in the field.

Features and Benefits

  • The power sleeve is a reinforced nylon polymer with stainless steel threaded inserts embedded as part of the expansion installation mechanism
  • Expansion installation mechanism components are made entirely of stainless steel threads, not steel threads to plastic threads
  • The external take-up clamp is composed entirely of stainless steel
  • Installs quickly and easily from outside of the manhole

BEST PRACTICES

  1. Vacuum testing shall be conducted in strict conformance with ASTM C-1244, prior to backfill.
  2. Pipe Stubs must be restrained from movement per ASTM C-923.
  3. Tightening of the external stainless steel take-up clamps should be done by using a torque-setting wrench available from Press-Seal Gasket Corp.

  • Prepare the hole to receive the gasket.
    1. Clean the hole of any debris or loose dirt
    2. Examine the hole for any imperfections (bug holes) and wire ends in the gasket bearing surface
    3. Patch any voids (bug holes) with slurry
    4. Remove any wire protruding up into the hole and patch with slurry if needed
  • Select the correct Nylo Drive™ wrench. The wrenches and the adjusters are sized so that only the correct wrench can be used with each size adjuster, and will provide the correct torque. DO NOT USE ANY OTHER SIZE OR TYPE OF WRENCH TO INSTALL NYLO DRIVE™
  • Place the Nylo Drive™ connector in the hole with the adjuster mechanism in position so that it will be at the top of the hole (9 to 3 o’clock) in the final installed position of the manhole. Align the connector so that it is square to the hole. Check to make sure the black internal power sleeve is fully within the confinement space
  • Place the wrench on the adjuster nut so that the arm of the wrench is on the installer’s left side. This will ensure that the proper orientation is maintained
  • Begin to tighten the Nylo Drive™ Connector by pulling the wrench handle toward the outside of the manhole. The wrench will ratchet back easily at the end of the stroke
  • Continue tightening until proper torque is reached. The wrench will signal this by “breaking” slightly. Re-torque is not necessary prior to shipping with the Nylo Drive™
