Applied with a brush or spayed onto a pipe joint, our red gasket adhesive quickly changes to a tacky state that allows a gasket to be permanently bonded to the concrete.

With application rates of approximately 250 square feet (23.2 sq. meters) per gallon, #1-326 Adhesive is an economical way to keep gaskets in place on pipe. It can also be used for priming concrete surfaces for application of butyl wraps or sealants, and for bonding closed cell joint filler in place.

How It Works

  • Surface of joint is cleaned.
  • Slip gasket onto spigot of pipe (if applying to a gasket) and rotate gasket 180 degrees in direction of bell.
  • Apply Red Gasket Adhesive.
  • Roll gasket back into joint (if applicable).

Why It's Better

  • Easily roll or brush on.
  • Can be used on gaskets in confined grooves or on straight tongue & groove.
  • Variety of uses such as gaskets, groove joints, wrap adhesion and much more.
  • Specially formulated to bond rubber to concrete

Where To Use

  • Bonding rubber gaskets to concrete pipe and manholes.
  • Primer/adhesive for butyl joint wraps and butyl sealants.
  • Primer/adhesive for bonding butyl sealants to box culverts.
  • Bonding closed cell joint fillers to joints in pipe, manholes, and box culverts. Gluing cut ends of closed cell material to make gaskets.
  • Works with clean concrete pipe in almost any shape – round, elliptical, square, arch.
  • Manholes
  • Wet wells
  • Pumps and lift stations

Best Practices

  • DO NOT ATTEMPT TO APPLY ADHESIVE TO WET PIPE
  • KEEP COVER TIGHTLY CLOSED WHEN NOT IN USE
  • STORE IN DRY COOL PLACE

Caution

  • PRESS-SEAL RED ADHESIVE #1-326 IS A FLAMMABLE LIQUID

For profile gaskets with confined groove joints:

  1. Before installing the gasket to the concrete pipe, clean the spigot or tongue end of pipe with a cloth or brush so that no foreign material remains.
  2. Slip gasket onto pipe and into the groove(s) provided.
  3. After gasket is in place completely around circumference of pipe, roll gasket out of joint 180° in the direction of the bell end of the pipe.
  4. Apply Press-Seal Gasket Adhesive by means of brush or spray to both rubber gasket and dry concrete pipe. When the adhesive be the comes tacky to touch, but does not adhere to fingers (usually 1 min. to 10 min., depending on the temperature) roll rubber gasket back into grooves and press into place.

For profile gaskets on mortar (straight tongue & groove) joints:

  1. Before installing the gasket to concrete pipe, clean spigot or tongue end of pipe with cloth or brush so that no foreign material remains.
  2. Apply adhesive liberally to concrete pipe spigot area only, then place rubber gasket on spigot and press into place.
  • DO NOT ATTEMPT TO APPLY ADHESIVE TO WET PIPE.
  • KEEP COVER TIGHTLY CLOSED WHEN NOT IN USE.
  • STORE IN DRY COOL PLACE.
